Abstract/Notes | Reconstruction Task Force 4 (RTF4) deployed to Afghanistan in 2008 as part of Operation Slipper- Australia's military contribution to Afghanistan. Their area of operation was Uruzgan Province in central Afghanistan. Their mission was to help bring stability and scurity for the Afghan people, through project that support good governance and stable communities. Their work was focused on construction tasks-especially the creation of bases for afghan and coalition forces- and smaller engineering tasks such as trade training and project supervision. Conducting Counterinsurgency uses the experiences of officers and soldiers from RTF4 to illustrate principles that apply to conterinsurgency operation.
